Some of you will have noticed that our website had crashed, as it was not visible for quite some time, and we have not had the time to try and find out what happened to it - so we have put up a version of our old site - to keep everyone up to date with what is going on!
Once again the outdoor season is in full swing - in fact these days we only manage to grab a few weeks off during the month of January, as the season now seems to stretch right out from the beginning of February right through until New Years Eve!
As usual JPL Sound & Communications have been extremely busy with all type of events, we have also seen a lot of new events coming our way, plus we now seem to be leaving our base in South Wales an awful lot more, as we travel the UK providing our services to more and more Marathons, Half Marathons, 10K’s and other road running races, plus Air Shows, and even more Equestrian Events.
Behind the scenes, we continue to invest a considerable amount on new and updated equipment, over the last couple of years we have added many items to our hire inventory such as more Horn Loudspeakers, additional high quality full range loudspeakers, new generators, a trailer stage, new radio microphones and back at the beginning of march this year - the first batch of 60 Digital Two-Way Radio Handsets, which offer the latest technology advanced communications that our events deserve - not more faint voices with crackling - digital means crystal clear communication at all times!
During 2019 we have earmarked a couple of projects that we are working towards - another new Single Deck Commentary Unit and a smaller version Outdoor Trailer Stage! We will keep you all posted on how we are getting on with these projects, but just to say that both projects will be built ‘in house’!
During the month of June we have been busy organising getting the various equipment together ready to start constructing our new commentary unit - which will be another 12ft long unit that we find very popular with our customers, we have also recently acquired another small trailer that will be a multi-use trailer - either for carry stage sections and other kit - or can be put into use as a small commentary unit.
We have also just finished working on one of our larger events - the Weston Air Festival across the Bristol Channel from us - in Weston Super Mare! This was our second year supplying this event, although we did not have the heat wave this year when doing the get-in and the de-rig. Once again it was a super event for us with over 70 loudspeakers all fitted onto the lighting columns that run along Weston Super Mare’s seafront - together with overhead cabling between them all - which resulted in over 2Km of cable, 2 days to get it all fixed up on the columns, another day get-in with our Double Deck Commentary Unit plus doing the electric supply hook-up and the telephone cable hook up to it plus testing and setting volume controls. The event ran for Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd June, a lovely summer day on Saturday, but a rather overcast day with rain threatening on the Sunday. unfortunately although the Red Arrows started their show on Sunday it almost immediately had to be aborted due to the low cloud the descended upon us! Technically a good weekend for us with everything working extremely well plus amny compliments of how good the sound was all along the seafront.
We now have our first outing this year of our trailer stage at the Rhoose Music Festival on Saturday 6th July, where we will also be using our newly acquired HK Sound system, as well as supplying stage, sound, power, lighting and full crew for this super event.
