It seems years ago that we did an update to what is happening at home with JPL Sound & Communications - the good news is that we survived for well over a year and a half without any work or events due to covid!
As an Event Sound Hire company - our work is diversified over many fields - in other words we do not keep all our eggs in one basket!
Not only do we cover large outdoor sporting and Leisure Events, we also provide an installation service of sound and lighting equipment, we own The Barry Music Shop - which again also suffered immensely with loss of sales during lock down periods, plus we also hire out stages, Pop-Up Marquees, Streaming of Funeral Services together with also Audio Relaying of funeral services to outside of Churches, Chapels and even Funeral Homes.
During the height of the Covid outbreak where there were very limit numbers that could attend a Funeral, we were kept busy by relaying these services to outside churches on the public roads and pavements, where people were using common sense and keeping at a safe distance away from others! We also had to quickly obtain the required equipment to enable us to Stream Church Services out to the internet via Zoom.
Now that most restrictions have lifted and most events have returned or are organising ready to return this year - work has certainly picked up - but we are also still busy providing our services for Funeral Services right across South Wales.
The early Point to Point Season seems to have been delayed due to bad weather - thus we have already lost two race meetings which are now abandoned. However we are receiving enquiries for lots of new events this year, so hopefully it looks like 2022 is going to be a busy year!
We have just about finished repairing and refurbishing one of our newer commentary units that received some damage early in 2021 - not long after it was manufactured by ourselves. Thankfully it is now looking smart after a partial re-build and will be back out on the road the weekend before Easter 2022.
Some of you will be aware that during the latter part of 2021 we had to move our storage warehouse , due to Associated British Ports - the Port of Barry redeveloping their site at Barry Docks, where a lot of local businesses were based. Thankfully we were extremely fortunate to find new premises just outside of Barry in the Village of Dyffryn - where we now have a superb storage facility of around 5400sq.feet. This now means that we have a much improved storage warehouse and at last we are able to accommodate a fork lift truck to be able to utilise are pallet racking to its full capacity and saving all of our staff time when loading and unloading!
The new unit also means that we now have capacity to make repairs or even re-build commentary units inside and under cover - something we never had before. It also now means that we have a much better layout of storage racks and shelves meaning we can find everything instantly - at last!
All of the JPL Sound Team are looking forward to meeting up with our customers and clients - many of whom we have not seen for nearly 2 years!
